PARISH AND COMMUNITY PROGRAMS AND GROUPS

Special Events for Everyone

Here are some special events that bring our whole parish family together to celebrate the passage of the Church year in praise of our Lord and in fellowship with one another.

Christmas Pageant

We present a special Christmas program each year, a glorious tradition starring our children in a dramatic celebration of the birth of Christ. This program takes place at the family Christmas Eve service at 5:30pm.

Twelfth Night Celebration

Join us in a traditional English commemoration of the visit of the Three Kings to the infant Jesus, marking the end of the twelve days of Christmas. The whole parish is invited to dress in medieval costume and bring a potluck dish. There is a a traditional King’s Cake, with the lucky piece of cake awarding its eater the title of King or Queen for the evening. For children, there is a treasure hunt, a pinata, and special crafts to take home. Live entertainment completes this special evening.

Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper

Our pancake supper, hosted by Glastonbury Society and served by the youth groups, follows a beloved English tradition. Held on the Tuesday before Ash Wednesday, this special event prepares us for the long and lean season of Lent by serving the foods containing the ingredients traditionally forbidden during Lent. We also make carnival masks in the grand tradition of the Mardi Gras. Proceeds from this supper are used to benefit our youth programs.

“Prelude to the Passion”

Held on Palm Sunday, this program is a reflective look at the events of Holy Week, our most solemn and important week of the Church year, with simple activities and concrete reminders of Jesus’ last days of earth, to serve as a prelude to the Holy Week services. We are urged to remember what Jesus experienced during these days, and to remember how he lived and died for us. .
